SB46 Passed Today – Extends Exemption for Surviving Spouses of 100% Disabled Veterans

SB46 Passed in the house today and is on the way back to the Senate. This bill extends exemption for 100% disabled veterans and allows the surviving spouse under certain conditions to receive a sales tax exemption of $1,000, with limiting amount of qualifying sales. In a nutshell – if a 100% disabled veteran who was receiving the sales tax exemption dies then the surviving spouse will continue to receive a sales tax exemption limited to $1,000 per year. In the past, when the 100% disabled veteran died the spouse lost that sales tax exemption benefit the day the veteran died.
